Free things to do while Social Distancing

Social Distancing has us all climbing the walls with boredom, colouring in only keeps us occupied for so long before we need some input, any input, from the outside world!

Here at LEXSA, we spent some time hunting the internet for some content jewels to keep you occupied, so you don't have to.

MUSIC

All over the internet, people are making music from home and streaming it.

Classical music is great for study!

Fiona Joy Hawkins, for example, is a world-renowned Pianist, Composer, and Singer based in the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. She gains inspiration from the works of Mendelssohn, Chopin, Max Richter, and Michael Nyman and is a member of the Contemporary instrumental group FLOW (Fiona Joy, Lawrence Blatt, Jeff Oster, Will Ackerman). Hawkins has played venues across Australia, China, and the USA, including Carnegie Hall in NY and the Sydney Opera House.

So, how is Fiona helping us alleviate our boredom? Why she is doing a free Facebook Live concert, of course!!!

Concert name: FREE Music at Home Tour

Location: https://www.facebook.com/fionajoyhawkinsmusic/

Dates: 27th March AEDST 10 am & 12 noon

How about some opera?

Nightly Opera Stream

OK Peeps, how about we take this time out as an opportunity to get "cultured" by having a look at the Opera?

The Metropolitan Opera we may know as "The Met" in popular culture is a home for some of the most talented singers, conductors, composers, musicians, stage directors, designers, visual artists, choreographers, and dancers in the world. Fortunately for us, they have decided to do a free, daily performance, streamed straight from their website. Go to https://www.metopera.org/nightly-opera-stream/ and click the "watch now" button to find out more.

How about a Play writing lesson from one of the best!?

want to try your hand a writing a play?

Renowned San Francisco based playwright Lauren Gunderson has penned multiple witty historical dramas about women in science ("Emilie," "Silent Sky," "Ada and the Engine"), giddy political comedies ("Exit, Pursued by a Bear," "The Taming," "The Revolutionists"), and wildly theatrical explorations of death and legacy ("I and You," "The Book of Will"). Gunderson was the most produced playwright in America for the 2017-18 season and has decided to use her time in isolation by helping aspiring artists, also in quarantine, live out their dreams by offering a writing tutorial. It began with Wednesday's course Playwriting Class Part 1, Beginnings and Endings, which she broadcast via Facebook from home. Youngblud Variety Show

Mixing live performances with some (rather chaotic) interview segments and games featuring Oliver Tree, Machine Gun Kelly, and Bella Thorne. The Youngblud variety show is a wild romp through his music, thoughts, friendships, and hobbies, its chaos, and it's awesome!!
