Online Empowerment Class: Self Defence for Men
Time & Location
About The Event
Due to the recent restrictions within Southern Cross University, we have decided to host this workshop online.
It will be held via zoom and be a shorter course as the physical component cannot be practiced. Our hosts; Lisa and Mark from Empowered Today will present the information as well as a variety of activities.
This workshop is free for LEXSA Members. Students must be current LEXSA members to register and attend this event.
We're excited to announce our second Empowerment Class: Self Defence for men! We're working with the team at Empowered Today to host this workshop. Mark and Lisa Evans, a husband and wife team, will be your hosts for the male-identified workshop.
The goal of this workshop is for you to be empowered and equipped with a toolkit of mental and physical techniques to use, not only in potentially violent situations but also in your everyday life. Through a variety of learning experiences (including information sharing, practice drills and real-life scenarios) we will cover a range of topics and strategies that will help you understand yourself better and feel confident to deal with any situation that may come your way.
Topics will include...
- The 4 Types of Violence
- Situational Awareness
- Risk Assessment
- Perpetrator Psychology
- The ‘Monkey Dance’
- Non-verbal communication
- Pre-violence Indicators
- Avoid, Evade and Escape Tactics
- The Adrenal Response
- Physical Skills (minimum force)
- Practical Physical Techniques (for violent encounters)
